In America today we celebrate Thanksgiving and reflect on the manifold blessings the Father of Lights has given us as individuals and families. How great is YHVH! His glory fills the earth and gorgeous landscapes replete with birdsong, deer and elk, falcons, eagles and frolicking squirrels and birds gracefully perched on bird feeders or suet cages bless our eyes and ears.
The blessing and privilege of walking safe streets kept so by men and women who volunteer to protect and serve the citizens of local communities. Neighbors walking dogs, hiking trails, and joggers and cyclists flowing past on country roads. What a gift from our Creator that moms and dads can push strollers through parks and neighborhoods that are at peace.
Manifold blessings of time with family over a meal with many overindulging before sprawling in the living room to watch a football game or play boardgames at the dining room table, or pool in a game room.
We are richly blessed to have a roof over our heads, whether our abode be humble or palatial, complete with the accoutrements of comfortable beds and the joy of furry little friends who lavish companionship, affection and countless hours of playtime and laughter.
Recalling the innumerable good gifts send to us by Father God, especially God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is an important focus of today and I encourage you to reflect on all the ways our beloved Lord and Savior, Good Shepherd, Jehovah-jireh – our provider – has brought you through rough times, showered you with encouragement through family, friends, colleagues and neighbors.
Praise Him Jesus our Blessed Redeemer, Friend, and Companion! Have a blessed Thanksgiving filled with laughter and delicious food.
