In scripture the Lord Jesus Christ tells us, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no not the Angels of heaven, but my Father only” (Matthew 24:36). Undeterred, men set dates as to when Yeshua is going to return. This foolishness causes unbelievers to mock Christianity, and is a terrible witness to those yet at enmity with God.
Prior to his death in 2013, a man named Harold Camping, president of Family Radio in California, repeatedly made false claims about the rapture even placing billboards proclaiming May 2011 would be the day! To his credit he did apologize and amend to December 2011.
In recent months videos on YouTube, and articles connected with ministries, are claiming the Pretribulation Rapture (PTR) will happen on September 23, 2023. The PTR is not found in the bible, period. Until about ten years ago I also believed this lie, but after spending hours searching Matthew, Mark, Luke, Daniel, and Revelation led me to surrender to the truth of God’s Word that PTR is a man made doctrine.
Origin of PTR
This errant idea was popularized by John Nelson Darby, as a result of a fevered fifteen year old Scottish girl Margaret MacDonald who claimed to have had a vision in which a select group of people would be removed from earth prior to the revealing of the man of sin, commonly referred to as the antiChrist. This contradicts Jesus’ description of the end:
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there be a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
John Nelson Darby held prophetic conferences espousing this errant theory with a group known as the Plymouth Brethren in Scotland, and, seduced by this idea, he brought this errant theory to America. Also, there was a Jesuit Francisco Ribera in the 1500s introduced the idea that the vision of the prophet Daniel was split into two parts of a seven year tribulation. I’ve read that some believe this was done to deflect the Protestant belief that the pope was the false prophet. Bible adherent Christians killed by Rome, see.
However, the bible does not contain a seven year tribulation. If you are unfamiliar with the vile oath Jesuits, or the Society of jesus founded by Ignatious Loyola, to this day swear to the pope, see. Upon reading the oath sworn to the pope, consider the origin of the PTR. Roman Catholicism is not part of the Ecclesia of Lord Jesus Christ, the Vatican holds service in a cathedral shaped like a viper, sings to Lucifer in Latin, and places wafers in a monstrance that, as they claim, is the literal body and blood of christ!
Millions Await A Rapture
Whatever the origins of PTR, this lie is embraced by millions who anticipate a rapture before the tribulation despite no scripture to support it. The tragedy of seducing spirits polluting the doctrine of Christ with doctrines of demons, is it undermines trust in God. We are warned by the Lord Jesus to be on guard against deception.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. (Matthew 24:4; Mark 13:22; Luke 21:8)
The apostle Paul says of these latter days,
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not a love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-11)
What’s the solution to avoiding deception, false doctrine, and false prophets? Study the Word of God for yourself! I suggest searching all the prophets focusing on Daniel, the gospels, and Revelation.
Surrender to the truth of God’s word, and a scripture that made it easy to avoid false doctrine,
God forbid: yea, let God be true, and every man a liar, as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, and overcome, when thou art judged. Romans 3:4
That must settle the issue. Simple rule to avoid false doctrine – if any teaching or teacher disagrees with the Word of God, toss it out.
When a prophet speaketh in the Name of the Lord, if the thing follow not nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptously: thou shalt not therefore be afraid of him. Deuteronomy 18:22
And immediatly after the tribulation, of those days, shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the kindreds of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man come in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:29-30
We are nearing the tribulation, but many prophetic events have yet to happen. The antiChrist, abomination that makes desolate, has not revealed himself to the world. A big clue will be when we see Israel surrounded by armies, when Damascus ceases to be a city, and when the false messiah enters stage right.
The wars and rumors of wars, the arrogance of governments killing their own people without accountability, earthquakes are plentiful, and the love of men is growing colder seemingly by the day.
I knew the days would come when we would see men grow cold to the suffering of others, but people standing around holding cell phones while filming beatings, rapes, muggings has really shaken me. Certainly, we have seen quite a few signposts confirming the lateness of the hour. However, until a man of sin is revealed that demands worship — without which no one will be able to buy or sell — and a false prophet demands an image of the Beast be erected similar to the collosus of Nebuchadnezzar we’re not in the tribulation.
The body of Christ is being built and God will continue to save souls throughout the tribulation. We will be protected like Noah, Hebrews in Egypt when they put blood on the doors (saints of God are bought and covered by the blood of Yeshua), Daniel in both the fire and lion’s den. God even tells us to go into our chambers (homes) until the indignation passes over.
Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. Isaiah 26:20 and,
For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. Isaiah 26:21
I believe that the “indignation” spoken of is referencing
AND the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. Revelation 9:1-6
The hype around the PTR is directly related to people not wanting to endure tribulation, but a clear reading of scripture shows that we will remain on the earth until the last trump when the King of kings and Lord of lords – the sign of the Son of man – appears in the sky. Every eye will see him even they who pierced him.
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. Revelation 1:7
Obviously, “they who pierced him” is referencing those involved in the crucifixion. Long ago dead. Yeshua will remove the wicked, Holy Angels will gather the elect to our LORD. The timing is also an issue for PTR, because it is at the last trump.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore, comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light. And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. Mark 14:24-27
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning. Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. Mark 14:32-37
The Ecclesia needs to be about kingdom business as ambassadors of Christ, not date setting or freting over what the coming antiChrist will do. Blessings.
